Sweet avocado custard

Avocado cream

My first post in this new blog is an avocado dessert. I know it´s very weird for people used to eat avocados with savory food. You´ll probably say the same thing I did the first time I tried guacamole. What the hell is that?

This sweet and creamy avocado dessert is very common in Brazil, it´s a comfort food enjoyed cold in summer days. And yes, we eat avocados with sugar.

I invite you to give it a try.

Ingredients (for 2 - 3 servings - or 1 for a greedy person like me)

1 ripe avocado (a Haas variety is perfect)
1/3 cup sweet condensed milk
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon lime juice
1/2 teaspoon lime zest
6 ice cubes
Extra milk if necessary


Open avocado in half with a knife, remove the flesh with a spoon. Place it in a blender.

Add condensed milk, milk, lime zester, juice and ice cubes.

Blend until smooth. Add more milk if necessary to blend well. But it should be thick like a custard.

Add more condensed milk or sugar to taste.

Eat immediately or store in the refrigerator for a few hours only. It will turn brown and taste funny with time.


If you can´t find sweet condensed milk use double cream or evaporated milk and sugar to taste. The flavor will be different but it will taste good too.

You can freeze the mixture as my grandmother used to do and eat it as a frozen dessert.

Try mashed avocado with honey!
